The context

Men’s Sheds Canada needed a website to support a community network. People visiting the site needed to find information and connect with local sheds, while the organization needed a practical way to manage its content.

What RapidIteration delivered

We designed and built the website on WordPress, focusing on ease of use and accessibility. The implementation included:

  • A flexible page builder for managing site content.
  • An interactive map of local sheds.
  • An event calendar.
  • Bilingual content support.

Connecting people with local sheds

The shed finder brings location search and a national map into one view, helping visitors find a local community.

Fit the technology to the work

WordPress provides the publishing foundation for the site. The map and calendar serve specific visitor tasks, while the publishing tools support the people maintaining the website.

For a national network, the visitor experience and the editorial process need to work together.

Two journeys to scope together

For a visitor, the important sequence is finding a shed and understanding how to connect. For an editor, it is keeping locations, events and bilingual content useful as the network changes. The publishing process needs to support both languages and changes across the network.

The project combines those journeys through WordPress, the shed map, the event calendar and flexible publishing. It illustrates when an established content system can support an organization’s work without building every administrative function from scratch.

For a comparable site, agree who can edit each type of content, who checks translated information and what happens when a location or event changes. Those are useful acceptance questions to bring to a project brief.
